Meet Alys

I came to the field of social work and mental health as a second career, shaped by both my professional background and my personal experiences. Having navigated adversity earlier in life, I developed a deep understanding of how trauma can impact individuals and families. That perspective continues to guide my passion for supporting children, adolescents, and adults as they heal and make sense of their experiences.

What I enjoy most about this work is witnessing growth, whether it’s a child learning to express their emotions, a teen gaining confidence, or an adult gaining clarity and feeling more grounded. I value the opportunity to walk alongside individuals as they begin to understand themselves in new ways and recognize their own strengths.

When individuals work with me, I hope they feel safe, understood, and respected. My goal is to create a space where you can show up as you are, without fear of judgment. I want my clients to leave sessions feeling supported, more confident, and better equipped to handle the challenges they are facing.

How I Work

My therapeutic style is collaborative, compassionate, and trauma-informed. I take a practical, strengths-based approach, meeting individuals where they are to identify meaningful goals together. Building a trusting relationship is central to my work; I prioritize creating a safe, consistent space where you feel heard, validated, and actively involved in your own healing process.

What Clients Can Expect

You can expect a supportive, structured, and engaging environment where we work together toward your goals. Sessions may include a mix of conversation, skill-building, and—when working with children—play-based interventions. I tailor each session to your specific developmental level and needs to ensure therapy feels approachable and effective.

Over time, you can expect to gain a deeper understanding of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, along with practical tools to manage challenges. My hope is that you leave therapy feeling more confident, grounded, and prepared to navigate difficult situations.

A Little More About Me...

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and slowing things down. Life can be busy, so I really value small, everyday moments. To recharge, I like reading and being outside so I can reset and show up fully for both my clients and my family.
